Connecting children with nature

The Program

Mud Puddles Nature Program offers small group outdoor sessions throughout the City of Markham, that encourage children to explore and engage with the natural environment through play, games, stories and crafts.  Sessions cover a variety of fun nature themes and are tailored for children 10 years of age and younger.  Themes are paired with specific locations so that children are learning about their local ecology.

Hi, I'm Jill!  Growing up in a small town, I was fortunate to have access to nature from an early age.  My childhood was spent exploring local meadows, streams and forests growing both my curiosity and appreciation for the natural world.

My love for nature led me to a degree in Environmental and Resource Studies and previous roles as a naturalist, educator and environmental consultant.

Mud Puddles evolved from the desire to share my passion for the outdoors with others and allow the flexibility to care for my young family.  Thanks for joining the adventure.  Now, let's get muddy!

“Jill’s admiration for the beauty of nature is contagious!  She has an incredible way of making a wander through the woods a learning adventure!  She connects with children in such a special way.  I’d recommend any family to consider Mud Puddles for their children!” - Laura, mother of Oliver and Layla

“Jill creates fun and flexible activities to get kids interested in nature.  It can be difficult to get my son to settle and focus, and she's great at getting him engaged.  She's kind, patient and entertaining" - Sarah, mother of Andrew

“Every time I’m with Jill, I learn something new about nature.  She’s a wealth of interesting and fun information and is very engaging with kids of all ages.” - Lynnette, mother of Maddy and EJ
